Diet and exercise are the key to healthy weight loss. While we all have our good and bad days, finding the motivation to exercise can put a positive spin on a negative day. Going for a walk, run, or bike ride in your neighborhood can be a great way to get active. You don’t have to do a lot, but dedicating time to exercise throughout your week can help you stay on track and reach your goals that much sooner. SlimFast Brand Ambassador, Elissa, shares advice on how she exercises at home and stays motivated to maintain that healthy balance!
Thanks to the SlimFast Plan, I’ve lost 47 lbs. and 37” inches in 33 weeks and I’ve kept it off for over 4 years now! My journey with SlimFast became a dedication to my needs and an opportunity to take self-care more seriously. One of the ways I did this was working fitness back into my daily lifestyle. When I first started my weight loss journey I dreaded working out at the gym. I also struggled working out at home. It was group fitness classes that finally captured my interest and made me look forward to my next class. Now, I am addicted to how amazing I feel after a great workout. I love the energy I get from keeping in shape and challenging my body. I find that creating a dedicated fitness space at home encourages me to work out regularly. I can easily stream workouts I love in the comfort of my own home. I crave being outdoors and often enjoy a lovely walk/run for coffee to my local coffee shop. I find that keeping it simple and choosing a workout I enjoy keeps me motivated and engaged. I continue to stay motivated by following five simple rules!
- Never Do a Workout you Hate!
- Make Exercise a Part of your Weekly Self-Care Routine!
- Show Up for YOU, Even if you Don’t Feel Like it.
- Use a Tracking Device to Help Keep you Motivated.
- Know Yourself and Plan Accordingly.
Don’t be afraid to try new styles of workouts to find what you love. Always listen to your body and check in with your doctor to ensure you are choosing routines that are safe for you. I’ve found that yoga, Pilates, HIIT workouts, walking, running, and cross fit workouts are among some of my favorite routines.
It’s not selfish to take time for you. I schedule my workouts ahead of time, ensuring that I stay accountable and that I’m making myself an important priority too.
Promise yourself to start a workout and commit to at least 20-minutes, by then you might just find you won’t want to stop.
I started with an activity tracker and step counter. Notifications and alerts help me challenge myself and know when I need to push a little harder. Many devices even have an option to share challenges with friends to help cheer each other on.
If you know that you need to start your day off with your workout to stay accountable, then make it happen. Set yourself up for success and check it off the list early.
It’s no coincidence that four years later I still look forward to my daily work out, thanks to these simple rules. Remember that this is your journey and an opportunity to carve out a new path for yourself. It is important to find what works for you and create your plan for success now and for the future.
