Deborah’s Letter To Herself

The day I realized that I needed to change my life was on a family trip to Hawaii. Everyone decided to go zip lining. I was hesitant. I was the biggest one there and all I could think of was me breaking the zip line and what people would think. This is a letter to the me on Day One of my journey toward healthier living. The me who chose to start the SlimFast diet so that I’d be able to go ziplining on a family vacation and go on bike rides with my daughter. This is a letter to the me who nervously drank her first shake on the first day of my SlimFast diet.

Dear Deborah,

You’re starting your first day on the SlimFast diet plan, and I know you’re nervous. You don’t know what to expect, and you have your doubts that you’ll be able to stick to this change with your bustling life. Turns out, there’s no need to be afraid. Your SlimFast journey will work way better than you could’ve ever imagined, even with your busy life. Changing life habits and routine is never easy.

You’re scared about what choice you’ll make when you get hungry. Whenever you need to, bring a SlimFast snack or shake with you when you’re on the go. Plan your meals ahead of time to make it easier to avoid cheap junk foods that are quick to buy and easy to eat too much of. You get to choose when to have your replacement meals, so you’ll still be able to eat dinner every night with your family. That doesn’t sound so bad, does it?

When searching for what to eat, have fun looking up creative 500 calorie meals on SlimFast’s website. You’ll love these delicious and healthy recipes. Sometimes you’ll get bored with the shakes. But don’t worry! Just add fruit to mix things up a bit. Want a hint? The tastiest thing to add to your smoothies is powdered peanut butter, trust me it’s amazing!

One of the biggest reasons the SlimFast diet Plan will work for you is because you are creative. You can always think of healthy ways to change things up to make meals new and yummy. The SlimFast snacks are great, and you’ll love that you’re not limited to only snacking on the same ones.

Nibble on some fruit or munch on kettle corn popcorn. You can even have cheese sticks. There are so many healthy options that you already love to eat.

I know that you’re passionate about losing weight quickly, but it’s important to make sure you’re eating all your meals and snacks every day. Remember, now that you’re making healthier choices, you will see a difference!

You’ll feel great because you can still go out to restaurants. All you have to do is look up the nutrition menu for where you’re eating. This will help you to make the right choice and truly enjoy the night. If you want an alcoholic beverage, just make sure that it fits in with your calories that day. You can still have what you want, just count it in.

Changing the way you’re eating won’t be easy. This isn’t a quick fix.  You’re making a life long decision to start taking care of your body. Set small goals for yourself, starting with losing 1 or 2 pounds. Setting smaller goals will help you not to get so overwhelmed. You’ll reach the 10-pound weight loss mark and you’ll be so proud! Treat yourself to a special reward, like a mani/pedi, for how hard you’ve worked for this!

Take pictures and measurements every two weeks. You’ll love seeing the difference even if the scale doesn’t move. Don’t think about that number on the scale! Sometimes, you lose inches before weight. Don’t get discouraged when you have a bad day. Life happens. Every day is not going to be perfect. If you have a bad day, you can always talk about it with your family. They’re always going to try and make it better.

Come back to the SlimFast diet Plan after making a mistake. It will be all right. I promise you, you will have more good days than bad.

Drink plenty of water and start an activity like walking the dog to get your body moving in the morning or after dinner. Exercise seems so scary to you right now. Just take it slow. Soon, you’ll be riding a bike alongside your daughter. You’ll feel your progress, not just see it. Add exercises that you love, like swimming. Even if an activity lasts just a couple of minutes, it’s better than not doing it at all.

Know in your heart that this will get easier as you go. You are gorgeous at any size and you are worth all the hard work. You’ve made the life changing choice to no longer make excuses.

Now, I’m happier than ever. I have lost 63 pounds the healthy way, and kept it off for over a year. I no longer care about what people think of me. It’s how I feel about myself that really matters. Because of the SlimFast diet, I finally feel great about myself. I know that it’s scary and it’s hard to start something new, but stay on track. You will love the way you feel. With the help of the SlimFast diet, and taking it one day at a time, I finally have my life back.
