Lost 32 lbs. and 13" in 29 weeks
As a stay-at-home mom, Michelle found temptation lurking in her very own pantry and often gave in. After reaching her highest weight and a wake-up-call from her doctor, she committed herself to the SlimFast Plan and never looked back. Here, Michelle tells us her story of triumph.
Growing up I really did not know about nutrition and healthy eating. My weight fluctuated through life and I ate very poorly. After I got married and had my son, I became a full time stay-at-home mom. We ate three meals a day, but I had a terrible sweet tooth and gravitated toward junk food.
I knew I was overweight but didn’t really do anything about it until I went to the doctor and he told me that for my height (5’ 2) I was obese! As he continued, he said you are reaching 200 pounds and have to lose the weight otherwise you can end up being pre-diabetic. Diabetes runs on my dad side of the family, my grandmother died at a young age from type 1 diabetes. My mom and dad both have type 2 diabetes now. I knew I had to do something about it. So, my doctor put me on a 3-month plan with prescribed medication. Although, it wasn’t a very healthy plan, I did lose 25 pounds and I was on a roll. I was doing great losing the weight and staying active until I had an accident where I had to deal with a lawsuit for a year. I had to do physical therapy and was in pain where I could not exercise as much as I would have liked. Unfortunately, I gained all my weight back and it made me very depressed. I was right back where I started!
My journey began with SlimFast on August 20, 2018 and I couldn’t be happier with the SlimFast Plan. I found a healthier solution than the last diet I was on. I have dropped 32 pounds in 26 weeks and plan on keeping it off!
At first it wasn’t easy. I had to take it one day at a time, but I soon realized the SlimFast Plan was in fact really easy. It seemed like it was planned out just for me. Two shakes a day with a healthy meal under 500 calories and snacks in between. It was easy for me to grab the shakes and go, knowing that it is packed full of nutrition and a set calorie count. I knew the snacks were 100 calories and I wouldn’t over exceed on my calorie count for my day.
My day started out with a black coffee and a Mocha Cappuccino shake that kept me full until snack time. I made sure I brought the pre-made shake with me on my way to the gym. After my workout I had the shake I brought with me and then I would have my favorite SlimFast snack, which is the Sour Cream & Onion chips. Before I knew it, it was time to prepare a healthy meal under 500 calories for dinner. It was fun bringing my family into this with me and having their support, I got really creative with the meals. It also helped that SlimFast has a large community and had an enormous amount of support.
This was a real learning process for me and now that I had gone through this, I know that it is not a temporary fix, it is a lifestyle change. I learned that I can do this and continue this healthy lifestyle that I always longed to have. Thank you SlimFast for teaching me about nutrition and a healthy way of living. More importantly I am so happy that I can be a role model for my son. Thank you so much for bringing positivity into our lives.
